Estas nuevas normas incluyen medidas para abordar dos de las mayores fuentes de contaminaci\u00f3n de la industria del petr\u00f3leo y el gas: inspecciones peri\u00f3dicas para detectar fugas en todos los pozos y la eliminaci\u00f3n gradual de los equipos que contaminan de forma intencionada y que se utilizan ampliamente en toda la industria. La norma tambi\u00e9n incluye un programa para abordar con rapidez los principales incidentes de emisi\u00f3n detectados por terceros y limita la pr\u00e1ctica contaminante y derrochadora de quemar gas en los pozos de petr\u00f3leo, algo muy habitual en Texas.<\/p>\n<p>En virtud de la legislaci\u00f3n federal, los estados est\u00e1n obligados a elaborar planes para aplicar esas medidas de protecci\u00f3n. En oto\u00f1o de 2024, la Comisi\u00f3n de Calidad Ambiental de Texas (TCEQ) inici\u00f3 un proceso de colaboraci\u00f3n con las partes interesadas para recabar opiniones antes de elaborar una norma estatal para reducir las emisiones. La TCEQ se comprometi\u00f3 a publicar un borrador en agosto de 2025 para que el p\u00fablico pudiera presentar sus comentarios.<\/p>\n<p>Sin embargo, los bur\u00f3cratas pol\u00edticos de Washington ya han anunciado un retraso y un posible debilitamiento de las normas federales para reducir el metano y la contaminaci\u00f3n atmosf\u00e9rica procedentes del petr\u00f3leo y el gas. Por lo tanto, solicitamos que la TCEQ cumpla su compromiso y publique un borrador de la normativa para su comentario antes de agosto de este a\u00f1o con el fin de limitar la contaminaci\u00f3n procedente del petr\u00f3leo y el gas.<\/p>\n<p>Explique en sus palabras a la TCEQ por qu\u00e9 le preocupa la limitaci\u00f3n de la contaminaci\u00f3n clim\u00e1tica y atmosf\u00e9rica provocada por la industria del petr\u00f3leo y el gas. Puede mencionar los efectos de la contaminaci\u00f3n por metano en la salud, el clima o la econom\u00eda, y c\u00f3mo se manifiestan en su comunidad.
